What Is a Yeast Infection?

A yeast infection, also called
candidiasis, is caused by microscopic fungi or yeast which
live naturally on our skin and in the large
intestine. The fungi and yeast are forms of
candida, the most common being candida albicans.
There is no problem until the candida become so numerous
that they cause infection. Some studies show that 80-90% of
people living in the United States have a yeast
infection.
The same is likely to be true of other
countries.
The most well-known form of a yeast
infection is the vaginal infection, which usually manifests
as a white discharge and causes itching, pain and
redness.
But men, women and children can all suffer
from the unbearable burning and itching of a yeast
infection. In men,
it can be penile yeast infection. Babies' diaper rash is often a yeast
infection. A yeast
infection can also manifest as a rash on the skin, anywhere
on the body of men, women and
children. As an
infection of the mouth, tongue and throat the candida
infection is often known as thrush, and manifests as a
white curd-like substance.

Infections often also occur in moist warm
areas such as underarms, in skin folds and under
breasts. It can
also appear on nail beds.
The simplest, most thorough way to get rid
of yeast infections and not get them back is in the
comprehensive and easy to follow book by Linda
Allen, Yeast Infection No
More.
Unfortunately, candidiasis is often
misdiagnosed. This is not only unfortunate, but can
occasionally be dangerous. Left untreated, a yeast infection
can spread and attach itself to the organs and vessels of
the entire body. It then becomes a chronic or
systemic infection. People with weakened immune systems are
most likely to get a systemic yeast
infection.

Yeast Infections in
Your Toenails or Fingernails
Having any of these symptoms does not mean
that you definitely have a yeast infection.
They can be symptoms of many
other disorders. However, curing candidiasis with a
natural, holistic approach does also cure the above
problems.
I have discussed both natural and
pharmaceutical means of treating a yeast infection on other
pages of this website.
In my own experience, pharmaceuticals
and some natural medicines treat the yeast infection and
certain specific holistic remedies cure. In other
words, pharmaceutical pills and creams usually do the trick
- they take away the obvious symptoms of rashes and
discharges for a while. However, the rashes and
discharges do return.
Many people also get short-term relief
with natural remedies. There are ways to actually
change the environment the candida is thriving in, and be
rid of yeast infections forever. But you have to know
what you’re doing in order to get rid of the candida
completely and not get it back. The best I’ve found
(and I tried a lot) has changed my life. Having
energy, for example, is absolute bliss! And no more itching
and scratching, of course, is wonderful.
